June 14-22, 2003, JA Russia Graduate, Maxim Chuvaev, attended the Global Trade Institute (GTI) Conference in Chicago, USA. The participants, JA participants from around the world, were given an opportunity to participate in sessions and workshops, that allowed them to increase their understanding of global trade, teambuilding skills, networking with different nations and cultures. Successful business people shared with students their ideas, strategies and referred to challenges and rewards of business and entrepreneurship. GTI sponsors organized industrial tours to a number of businesses to help students better understand real business procedures and production processes. Maxim had a chance to visit Shepherd Casters Company to learn about its development and marketing policy. As a part of the GTI 2003 international team of JA students, he also enjoyed visiting a baseball match and dance cruise on Lake Michigan. Of special interest within the GTI 2003 cultural program were the Hancock Building tour with a wonderful view on the city and the lake and visiting the Museum of Science and Industry with exhibits that demonstrate high technology and interactivity.
GTI has become a unique experience for Maxim. It improved his knowledge and reinforced the skills acquired within his involvement JA programs. He learned a lot of new and exciting things about cultural diversity at international marketplace.
