JA Russia Job Shadow Days 2002 were held February 18 – March 5 in Moscow as a part of “JA Connections” program. Job shadow days — a supervised work site experience — help the students identify those areas of interest that will help them make better informed choices of their future jobs and careers.

JA Russia’s Job Shadow days were facilitated with gracious support of Citibank, American Express, Aerostar Hotel, Procter & Gamble, TNT Express Worldwide — JA Russia’s programs and projects continued supporters.

Job shadow day provided high students of the schools in the north-west and south-west of Moscow a job shadowing experience — an up-close look at what “real job” is like and how the skills they learn in school are put in use in the workplace.
| Many career options, especially in business are abstract from a young person point of view. Yet chances are these are the kinds of career fields today’s students will be in as adults tomorrow. |
That’s where job shadowing has its greatest importance. By brining young people into the workplace to see a marketing professional, or a sales representative, or a bank employee or an administrative manager at work JA Russia’s supporters and business consultants made alive real and tangible options very important to young people when he or she is trying to decide what to do as adults.
A key to the success of this effort is the commitment of companies to involve their employees to provide students a supervised work site experience in an enriching, meaningful way.
